I am a theatre-maker based in Philadelphia, PA.
I make ensemble-based, movement-driven theatre that draws inspiration from our natural world. My work takes everyday, small moments and blows them up into vulnerable, hilarious, beautiful performances. An insect’s life cycle, a waiter’s daydreams, the way the trees breathe when wind hits their branches; my art focuses on people, beings, and nature. I want to shake people out of the mundane rhythm of modern life and invite them to discover the wonders of our natural world.
My life and art are shaped by a child-like wonder of the living world. I aim to work at the pace of nature in my rehearsal room: at times moving quickly like the wings of a hummingbird; at other moments having a deep sense of grounding like the roots of a tall Sycamore tree. I invite collaborators and audience members alike to step into a space with no expectation or judgment. By focusing on process over product, my creative practice is a space where honesty delivered with respect is of the utmost importance.
The art I make forces people to slow down and look around. My work invites an audience to feel a sense of connection; a symbiotic relationship mimicking those in nature in which the audience, artists, and performance need one another in order for the other to survive.
My work tells large revelations by inviting the audience to observe something small. What will we learn when we go at the pace of nature?
